Ahead of Mehbooba's coronation, PDP making die hard loyalists strong | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: Amidst speculations that Mehbooba Mufti is going to be next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir the ruling People's Democratic Party has started giving due recognition to diehard party loyalists. Sources told Early Times that recent appointment of Ved Mahajan as PDP general secretary was a step forward in this direction and a clear message to the party leaders as well as the cadre. Ved Mahajan is one of the founder members of PDP, who remained loyal to Mufti Mohammad Sayed throughout his political career since his association with Congress party. Earlier also, he has remained general secretary of the party. While elaborating, sources said that by appointing Ved Mahajan as the General Secretary, Muftis have tried to pacify the section of leaders, who were feeling ignored, particularly after formation of Government in the state. Pertinent to mention that ever since the formation of Government, the there was a general complaint of the party cadre in Jammu that the senior PDP leaders were ignoring them. Now with the appointment of Ved Mahajan, sources said, Muftis have sought to kill two birds with single stone. Besides making it clear that the loyalty pays, the Muftis have also given a message that a similar exercise may be affected in Kashmir also, where the senior PDP leaders like Tariq Karra are creating troubles for the party vis-à-vis relations with BJP, sources said. In view of this, sources said that some more changes at the top level in organization are likely to be affected in the coming days to further strengthen grip of Mehbooba Mufti on PDP before her coronation as first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. |
