M S NAZKI Early Times Report POONCH, Dec 20: With the power development department (PDD) failing to maintain its power schedule, at least half a dozen villages in Poonch district are said to be reeling under darkness for the past many days. The inhabitants of Mendhar and its adjoining areas including Harni, Chatral, Sagra, Mohra Kallar, Balakote, Mand, Poonch town, Surankote and Ari have complained about erratic power supply and unscheduled power cuts. "Power department is a not following the curtailment schedule due to which the whole area is suffering," they said. They said that while they paid their dues on time, the department was treating them in a step-motherly manner. "Even as we pay our bills on time, the pesky power cuts have become the order of the day and our expenses have increased as people use other forms of fuel for lighting purpose," they added. They threatened to hold protests if PDD failed to ensure proper power supply to the affected Poonch areas. |
