Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: In the era of digitalization and modernization the University of Jammu is still relying on handwritten question papers in Post Graduate examination, evoking criticism from the students' fraternity. Students enrolled in first semester of MA Hindi through Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) informed Early Times that they were shocked to find on 19th of December that Hindi question paper was handwritten instead of typed. If Photostat question papers are to be supplied that only few rupees is expenditure of publishing the question paper", a student Rahul said. He further said that in the era of digitalization and repeated technology advances, the hand written papers were not expected from University of Jammu. "Nearly 2500 students are enrolled through Distance Education for First semester in Hindi and there are nearly 500 private candidates, in this way the University has been making huge money by using several tactics", another student alleged. Controller of Examination JU, Sanjeev Mahajan said that the hand written papers were as per rules. "As per University rules, the language papers can be handwritten. Even in English paper or in Hindi paper, there is requirement of second language, the handwritten paper is required", he said, adding that it was as per rules. A College professor informed Early Times that it was not a routine practice but often when there was requirement of on spot question paper, the Varsity administration rely on hand written question papers. "There is no compromise on the secrecy of the examination as no one knew as which set of question paper will come except few secrecy wing employees", he maintained. |
