Four months on, Devika pollution free project yet not commence

Udhampur, Dec 20: Despite lapse of four months, Devika pollution free project yet not started.
Sources said that team of water treatment expert visited Devika River one year back but till date no one visited the site to start the initial phase of project as assured earlier.
Experts after having a detailed review of various aspects of pollution here briefed the district administration that water treatment project of river Devika can be put in place to purify the water which ultimately can be used by the devotees to have a holy dip in it on religious occasions.
"The team also submitted a detailed project report (DPR) regarding the financial implications and technical report but till date nothing seems on ground on which it can be said that river will be pollution free in future", they said.
Parvesh Kumar Parihar a local resident of Udhmapur said that pollution of sacred Devika river's had also remained burning political issue in every assembly polls from last several years but due to apathy of politicians and administration river remain under the clutches of pollution as tall claims of administration and political leaders seems exposed on ground.
They further said that after the visit of water treatment experts people have developed hope that now river will be pollution free but laxity in execution of project by administration has dashed hope of people again .
He alleged that due to apathy of politicians and administration Water is now unfit for drinking , bathing because of high sewage contamination as environmentalist have warned after checking its pollution level.
"Administration to save its skin had issued an order under section order 144 Cr.Pc directing local residents to not put their septic outlets and garbage in river but there is no implementation of order in letter and spirit on ground", he concluded.
