Is PDP facilitating NC-BJP alliance? | | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: Despite repeated assertions by the BJP leaders that Mehbooba Mufti was acceptable to them as the Chief Minister, the Peple's Democratic Party is learnt to be looking for reasons to force an alliance between National Conference and the saffron brigade in Jammu and Kashmir. According to reliable sources in the PDP, the party was adopting delaying tactics in the Government formation to trigger a frustration in the BJP so that political channels between saffron brigade and National Conference are allowed to develop. An alliance between National Conference and BJP in present political scenario in Jammu Kashmir, even at the cost of losing power, suits PDP for regaining support in Kashmir. Even as PDP has the option to forge an alliance with Congress party and stake claim for Government formation with the support of Independent MLAs, who are understood to favour such a coalition without BJP, sources hint that Mehbooba Mufti was more concerned about future of PDP than forming a Government at present. Breaking up ties with BJP would not help the PDP to such an extent, which a possible NC alliance with saffron brigade would as it will bring both the Kashmir centric parties on the same page with regard to BJP, sources added and elaborated that NC's alliance with BJP would nullify the propaganda that the Muftis brought RSS into Kashmir Valley for the sake of power. Keeping in view of all these facts, sources added, the PDP has adopted the strategy of delaying response to BJP and scheduled feedback meetings of the party on January 31 and February 3 are purely in this context even as there has been no development so far over opening of NC-BJP channels for the Government formation in J&K.
