Mehbooba to meet Shah, PM Modi next week | Govt formation | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 24: The PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is likely to meet the BJP president Amit Shah next week to finalize the agreement for the formation of the BJP-PDP government, which is still unclear. She is likely to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi after meeting Shah. According to the sources the BJP presidential elections also caused delay in government formation in Jammu Kashmir. Now with the Amit Shah having been re-elected president, the process for the government formation in JK would be expedited, they said. "Even the Prime Minister was busy in building a consensus on the Amit Shah as he was facing some opposition especially from the party veterans so that's the reason even he couldn't take up the process," said the sources. Sources said that in place of the Ram Madhav and Arun Jaitely the PM would depute Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to hold direct talks with the Mehbooba Mufti. Rajnath has developed special relation with her as he addresses her as his daugther and was the first senior BJP leader to visit ailing Mufti Sayeed at the AIIMS. "Mufti Sayeed has worked with the Rajnath in the past and he has been always sensitive to the sensitivites of the PDP so he may be the right man to deal and diffuse the present stalemate. He may be present in the meeting of the Mehbooba Muft with Amit Shah," said the sources. The PDP sources said that Mehbooba wants a reassurance from the BJP that the party will not fiddle much with the Kashmir and will stick to the agenda of the alliance, which it said was approved only by the prime minister. The PDP president wants an assurance from no less than the BJP president and the PM Modi, the two are very close to each other. |
