'Sexploitation' scandal surfaces at Govt school in Kashmir | Parents seek Governor's intervention | |
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 24: A "sexploitation" scandal of school girls that can set the heads rolling in Education Department has surfaced in Kashmir. Even though the matter has officially come to the notice of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir, the department has been killing time in "internal inquiry" only to avoid any police inquiry, which can reveal the muck. As per highly placed sources, teenage girls of a Government Higher Secondary School in Srinagar, since last year, through "middlemen" have been asked to perform "cultural programs" at private residences of some "influential people". The poor girls were being promised "big scholarships" in lieu of the "private performances." This racket got unearthed just recently. As per the parents of the teenage girls, it all started last year when the Directorate of School Education Kashmir started "auditions for a cultural programs". The cultural show was a flagship program introduced by the then Education Minister, who personally attended the "grand finale" of the event on November 21, 2015. But, as per official sources, luring of girls towards "private cultural shows" had started during the district level competitions of the event in Srinagar, much before the finals. Official sources said during one the of the stage performances, some Government school teachers of the "cultural wing" introduced the girls to a man who would help them to bag "huge scholarships." The teachers belonged to the same school from where girls had come for the performance. The man, as per the parents had pretended to be a senior official in the Central Government even as he told the girls that he was very satisfied with their performance, and assured them of "huge scholarships". The man stayed in touch with the girls on mobile phone and even visited their school from time to time. "He asked the girls to keep practicing singing and dancing at the school till the cultural show would be held where they would be given scholarship," the sources said, adding this continued till schools took winter break on December 20. Earlier this month, some of the girls received call from the same man that he would take them for a "secret cultural show" where their "scholarship" would be decided and they would get "thousands as monthly stipend." He asked them to meet him near Lal Chowk wherefrom he would personally take them to the "secret venue". But mother of the one of the girls accompanied her. The man took them to Harwan. But he didn't want mother to enter the house where the "scholarship would be granted". Sensing trouble, the mother at once rushed into the house. She found some young men waiting to "grab the girls". "Chie Wuchie Lanath (May God curse you)," the mother told the man. She rushed back home along with girls. |
