Jammu, Jan 24: Management of Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) here has put the Crime Branch in tight spot by filing a fresh application to seek re-investigation into a six year old case which was lodged against the institute in 2010. Sources told Early Times a scam at ASCOMS had come to fore in 2010 when the then Additional Secretary Health and Medical Education Department lodged a complaint with IGP Crime alleging that illegal practices were being carried out by the management of ASCOMS, Sidhra by way of incorporating wrong entries in the OPD in patient department registers and by showing dead person admitted and treated in the hospital. Based on the complaint lodge by the government Crime Branch Jammu registered FIR 19/2010 against Management and officers/ officials of ASCOMS Sidhra under section 420/467/468/471 r/w section 120-B RPC and started investigations. Preliminary inquiry had found that some dead persons were shown admitted in hospital records just to enhance the strength of patients in the hospital. Maximum number of patients registered in OPD were without full particulars and addresses, some trainees in ASCOMS were been shown as junior nurses to increase the strength of staff, some employees were shown to have been on the payroll of ASCOMS were in fact working in different departments. Inquiry established that the records in this regard were fabricated by the ASCOMS management just to fulfill the Medical Council of India rules and regulations. Sources claimed that ASCOMS management tried its best to sabotage the investigations. "Initially they did not provide the records stating that the same had been stolen and later damaged by their three employees namely Ashwani Magotra an Accounts officer, Rajesh Jamwal junior receptionist and Victor Lehaer a nursing orderly." "The ASCOMS management had claimed that trio was ousted from the hospital and a FIR was lodged against them at Police Station Nagrota by Director ASCOMS," sources added. They said, "Crime Branch had to put the pieces together to establish the fraud committed at ASCOMS. As the investigations have been completed and CB is likely to produce the challan in the case ASCOMS management has sent an application to the senior officer to get the case reinvestigated." Sources said that application to seek reinvestigation has been filed to save a few high profile people, whose names have come up during the investigations. The investigations, according to the sources, have indicted ASCOMS owners. "A few officials whose wards are studying in the college are trying their best to get the case re-investigated so that the names of high profile people can be removed from the list of the accused," sources claimed. |
