Portfolio reshuffle shocks ex-Health Minister's lobby in GMC | | | Avinash Azad Early times Report JAMMU, Apr 5: Several trusted lieutenants working in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) and those holding loyalties with former Health and Medical Education Minister Choudhary Lal Singh are in State of deep shock and some of them have gone into 'coma', following change of portfolio. Despite available all doctors and life supporting equipments, their condition in GMC&H is reportedly deteriorating due to the apprehensions that the new Cabinet Minister Bali Bhagat would not provide them ventilator and left them to the mercy of god. These faithful servants of former Minister, who got plum and choicest posting in GMC&H and have been holding many pivotal posts, were so optimistic about the return of their master that they kept GMC administration under pressure and even not let the posters of Lal Singh removed from the walls of GMC&H. These trusted loyalists of former Minister were confident about the return of their 'Singh', to save their business enterprises-which this lobby had expanded in brief tenure of 10 months- but their castles of confidence got razed to rubble due to the major jolt given by the distribution of portfolios distributed late night by new Chief Minister. The political clout and confidence retained by this lobby could be gauged from fact that the posters of former Ministers were only removed on Tuesday, a day after formation of Government and 88 days after imposition of Governor's rule in State. During the tenure of the former Minister his men even bypassed their seniors in GMC&H. It is learnt that the new incumbent likely to initiate another drive, as earlier he had created panic among the land mafia who grabbed upon forest, land likely to clip the wings of those who were holding banners of their 'king' in past. Unfortunately, some overconfident 'workers' of former Minister in white apron, had termed media criticism of Minister as yellow journalism. During his ten months tenure the Health Department had become a racecourse where major investments like big corporation were made. A part from the lobby of former Minister, medico fraternity of State has hailed decision of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and BJP high command. It is pertinent to mention here that during Lal Singh's tenure as Health Minister the doctors have publically revolt against his authoritarian behavior. |
