Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr 5 : Inhabitants of Ujjhan, Ghambir Mughlan and many villages in Sunderbani tehsil in Rajouri district have held protest demonstration against the CAPD department and district administration alleging non supply of ration, especially flour among the rationees for the last three months.
Inhabitants of the district have also been resenting the working of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Rajouri officials and alleged that they have failed to update the ration card till today as per NFSA guidelines whereas the last date was fixed March 15.
"People are worried whether their names were added in the new ration cards or not because many names were missing when the CAPD department had released the provisional list of the beneficiaries and Deputy Commissioner and CAPD officers had assured for the corrections" said Mumtaz Ahmed and Roshan Lal.
Pertinently, in the first week of March CAPD department had released the lists of the beneficiaries for issuing of e-ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and many irregularities were found including missing of the names of the families, names of the dead persons included the lists, many families shown residents of other villages etc.
"More than one thousand families of the area are without ration for the last more than three months, local alleged. "Neither the department has been providing ration as per old scales nor under NFSA, they added. "We will block Jammu-Poonch highway if the department failed top provide us ration for the last three months within next three days" warned Ghulam Mohd, Mukhtatr Ahmed and other villagers.
At many places including Rajouri town the CAPD department has supplied Wheat instead flour but the same now is stored at CAPD outlets/depots as the people have refused to take raw wheat.
"During last three months the working in the department has been derailed. It will take few days to streamline the functioning and soon the people will get ration as per scheduled dates" said Ch Zulfikar Ali, Minister for CAPD.
