12874 kanal encroached land freed | | | Srinagar, Apr 24: Encroachment from more than 9000 canal of Khaicharai land and 3874 canal of state land was removed in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, an official spokesperson here today said. Meanwhile, under the Public Services Guarantee Act, Revenue offices of the district received 1.10 lakh applications out of 1.09 lakh were disposed off under the fixed timeframe. "More than 9000 canal of Khaicharai land and 3874 kanal of state land has been evicted so far in the district," he said. Financial Commissioner, Revenue (FCR), Pramod Kumar Jain impressed upon the officers of Revenue department to conduct regular tours of their jurisdictions to corroborate land records with the actual position on ground. Calling for bringing back the old glory of the department, the Financial Commissioner impressed upon the officers to provide extra attention to the matters related to upkeep of revenue records, which act as feeding notes for the functioning of other departments. The Financial Commissioner also directed the Tehsildars of the district to maintain tour diaries and furnish the same with the Deputy Commissioner by May 10. He said that tours are an effective means by which revenue officials especially Pawtwaris and Girdawars connect to common people. He said that digitization of Revenue records of Anantnag would start in the next month which would mark a new beginning in the update and upkeep of revenue records. |
