IPS officers lobbying for posts of IGPs | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 24: Police officers lobbying politicians for key postings is a common thing in J&K, but three DIGs, whose names have been cleared by DPC for their promotion to the next rank of IGPs, have become so desperate for their range or other important postings that they have started visiting the residences of some ministers to seek favours. DPC had in the recent past cleared the names of at least six DIGs for their promotion as IGPs. The final nod in this regard would be given by the state cabinet as and when it meets. Three of them have already started lobbying for key postings. Police sources said while two of these three were already posted as range DIGs, they wanted to be adjusted as range IGPs. One of them was posted in the range only a few months back, sources informed. Some of them, who were to retire in near future, were also trying for better postings so that they could enjoy power before they attained superannuation. This would also help them to exercise their 'influence' even after their retirement, sources said. Sources said two of the promotees had been given a green signal by the ministers. "To make sure that the ministers don't change their mind at the eleventh hour, these two DIGs are nowadays busy proving their loyalty to them," the sources added. |
