Danidhar inhabitants, BGSBU students demand repair of depleted Rajouri- Peeri road

Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 28: Inhabitants of Danidhar, students and staff members of BGSBU, and people of Peeri , Prori, Kotdhara and many other villages have demanded to expedite the repair work of Rajouri-BGSBU and Khandli (Rajouri)- Peeri ) link roads which are in very bad condition.
"Despite several complaints and representations to the PWD (R&B) officials nothing has been done to mitigate the problems of the students and the locals and seems to be in slumber" said Mushtaq Ahmed, a student.
Pertinently the 14 kilometer stretch from Khandli Bridge (Rajouri) to Peeri is also in very bad condition and offers a bumpy and dusty ride to commuters. The eight -kilometer BGSBU link road from its start from Seema Morh to tail end - University Campus still is in bad shape due to construction work on drainages and retaining walls for the last two years.
"The repairing and black topping work on the road is in progress on snail speed & that too at the wish of the contractor. The worst sufferer are the BGSBU students and faculty, patients, women and children as the private transporters have reduced the frequency of their vehicles to avoid damage to their vehicles owing to bad shape of road, " said Raghuvir Saraf, resident of Danidhar.
They recalled after several requests with the then Chief Minister late Mufti Mohd Sayeed and the then transport Minister Abdul Ganai Kohli had introduced a bus service for the students and staff members of BGSBU. Ironically the same service got snapped immediately after the death of Chief Minister, they lamented.
"Keeping in view the issue of students, BGSBU administration has purchased two buses which will ply morning and evening to ferry the students/staff members between Rajouri town and BGSBU campus" said Javed Musarat, VC, BGSBU.
When contacted Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) said, "Due to unexpected rains in the months of March & April the repair work on BGSBU was delayed and it is expected the complete road will be black topped as the work is in progress by end of May,"
"Apart from official apathy, the local people are equally responsible for the bad condition of the road as they have dumped sand, bricks, stones and other construction material on this road," said Mushtaq Ahmed a awared local resident.
