Pak again talks Kashmir, holds Delhi responsible for no breakthrough | Will Modi Sarkar react? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 28: Pakistan has again done it. It rubbed salt on the bleeding Indian nation on Tuesday in Delhi itself and it did the same on Wednesday in Islamabad. It raked up the Kashmir issue and held New Delhi responsible for no breakthrough in Foreign Secretary-level talks, held in New Delhi for about 20-odd minutes on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia Senior Officials Meeting. The Pakistan Foreign Secretary said Pakistan had expected that the talks might lead to progress towards the start of the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue which was agreed by the two countries in December last year, but it didn't happen. "I would not say there is a breakthrough, but we conveyed our concerns forthrightly," Aijaz Chaudhary said at a media briefing in Islamabad here on Wednesday, adding there was the need for a "structured, sustained and result-oriented comprehensive dialogue process", resolving the Kashmir dispute and conducting a fair trial in the 2007 Samjhauta Express attack case. Not only this, he also asserted that India was involved in subversive activities in Pakistan and to make his point, he referred to the alleged involvement of "spy" Kulbhushan Jadhav, asserting "such acts undermine efforts for normalization". Pakistan made it loud and clear that it was interested only in Kashmir and not prepared to address the Indian concerns as far as the scourge of terrorism. It is obvious that Pakistan is exploiting the New Delhi's weak foreign policy-vis-a-vis Islamabad, as also its ambivalent stand on Jammu & Kashmir. The Modi Government needs to revise its policy towards Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir taking into account the national sentiment that is against any compromise on the nation's stand on the state and Pakistan. Its foreign policy has boomeranged and only emboldened Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists and created sense of insecurity among the minorities in the state and the people of Jammu province, who have virtually come to believe that the BJP is thinking in terms of bartering Jammu and Kashmir to please Pakistan and its Kashmir-based agents. Time is running out and the patience of the nation is ending very fast. The BJP would suffer huge losses if it continued to follow the existing policy towards Pakistan. |
