Ex-deputy CM given more time by SAC to file supplementary affidavit | Recruitment scam in KVIB | |
Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 28: SAC (state accountability commission) full bench of chairman, Justice (retd) B A Khan and members -- Justice (retd) J P Singh and Justice (retd) B A Kirmani - has allowed further time to ex-deputy chief minister and then chairman of Khadi Village and Industries Board (KVIB), Mangat Ram Sharma to file supplementary affidavit in support of his defence. The bench allowed him more time after his counsel prayed for extension of time in view of the ailing health and old age of Mangat Ram. Former KVIB secretary R C Sharma appeared in person. It is worthwhile to mention herein that SAC had on October 26, 2007 initiated a regular inquiry against Mangat Ram and two former KVIB secretaries J P Singh and R C Sharma. In a writ petition filed by Mangat Ram, proceedings before the commission had been directed to be kept in abeyance by the high court. However, a high court division bench on February 9, 2016 dismissed the writ petition and directions were issued to SAC for taking the regular inquiry to its logical conclusion. The instant complaint was filed on August 1, 2007 by a social activist, levelling serious allegations against Mangat Ram and the two KVIB secretaries for making illegal appointments in KVIB. (JNF) |
