GMCH Jammu craves for cleanliness | Stinking toilets irk patients, attendants, will Govt take note of it? | | MOHD IRFAN Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 29: The premier Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) at Jammu is craving for cleanliness as the hospital is in 'pitiable' condition thanks to the callousness of the hospital administration. Reliable sources told early times that the much hyped initiative of PM 'Swachh bahrat abhiyan' found no takers in the Government hospital if one take stock of the different wards of the hospital once can conclude that wards marred by trashes, dirt, poor sanitation etc which mocks at the claims of the Government of proper sanitation in the hospitals. Incumbent Minister after taking over the reins of this department took initiative by launching swachh abhiyan accompanied with other officers of the administration to make this initiative carry forward but it's sad due to indifferent attitude of administration situation again back to square one. " Due to Mosquitoes in the different wards patients are up in arms against administration . They fear outbreak of malaria and other diseases. "As it is common saying that for ailing person's environment should be clean but in this hospital which is thronged by patients from different districts administration utterly fails to maintain hygienic condition which is taking toll on the precious lives of the gullible patients" sources rsaid. When contacted Medical superintendent GMCH Dr Ravinder Rattan Paul said "we have set process in motion of proper sanitation on war footing in outside and inside premises of hospital and wherever we found garbage we remove it and try to clean the premises "he added. When asked what about the stinking toilets as patients, attendants have to face agony, he said "As you know that there is great load of patients in this hospital keeping in view that there is difficult task t o maintain toilets, cite an example that in a family if there are 5-6 members but if the same toilets being put to use by 50-60 members condition turns worst adding, hopefully with the active support of the Minister we would overcome the deficiencies in this hospital "he asserted. On mosquitoes, he said "in few days we can call Malaria team from the municipality and they can use Mosquitoes repellants in the different wards of the hospital "he maintained. |
