BANDIPORA, Apr 29: Eight years old, Tajamul Islam from Bandipora district has become first Kashmiri girl to represent India at World Kickboxing Championship. Early Times learnt that, "Tajamul Islam hailing from the Muslimabad area in Bandipora district is a child sensation in martial arts, who is set to become the first Kashmiri to represent India in the forthcoming days. She is reading in Army Good will School in Bandipora, she is the proud daughter of his parents while as her father Ghulam Mohammad Lone is a driver by profession, who works with a construction company. It is learnt from close relatives of Tajamul that she trained at a local academyand was very passionate towards training. Tajamul is the youngest gold medalist in the J&K Wushu Championships and she also qualified for the National Wushu Championships in Haridwar last month, relatives told Early Times. They said that, she defeated her opponent last year at the National Kickboxing Championships in Delhi and became the first girl from the Valley in her age group to win a gold medal in the tournament. However, Army, which has supported Tajamul for the state and national events before, would facilitate her Italy plans as well. We had been told by the army that they will be facilitating her participation in the world championship my uncle was told to forget about the financial problems as army will take care of that aspect. Meanwhile school authorities said that, her brother and two sisters also practice kickboxing and have taken part in many state-level championships. "It is in their genes, all the siblings are champions, but Tajamul is far ahead than others and is an extraordinary girl in all respects. She has a fighting spirit even as she looks soft-spoken and cute, the school authorities added. |
