SHO takes huge 'bribe' to settle land dispute | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 14: The SHO of a police station in Jammu rural area is alleged to have taken a huge money as bribe from a party to settle a land dispute in their favour. The value of land is estimated at over Rs 5 cr. Since there was a dispute between two groups over this piece of land, one of them approached the SHO and asked him to help them take its possession, police sources said. After the deal was struck, the party paid the SHO a huge amount of bribe money as advance, sources alleged, saying the bribe money was shared by him with his senior too. A dead man also figures in the dispute. "The SHO is now pressurising the other group to leave their claim on the disputed land and let their rival to take its possession. He is also unlawfully teasing them for no fault of theirs," sources alleged. Sources said after they brought the matter to the notice of the senior officer, he too supported the SHO as he had already got his share of the bribe. They were now contemplating to get the matter enquired from another police officer and had also been approaching senior police officers for this purpose, the sources added. |
