Kashmir gets 2 medical colleges, Jammu 1 | Discrimination with Jammu under BJP raj | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 14: The BJP, which got a massive mandate from Jammu in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2014, has perpetrated one more injustice on the already grossly ignored and discriminated against people of Jammu province. One can catalogue here innumerable instances to prove that the BJP has caused more harm to Jammu than the Kashmiri ruling elite. A reference to just two would be quite in order. One, on February 28, 2015, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced in the Lok Sabha that Jammu will get All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, but the very next day the PDP-BJP coalition Government in J&K announced that it will be established in Kashmir. That day, the PDP and the BJP in a joint press conference in Jammu released the agenda of alliance which said Kashmir will have not only AIIMS but also super specialty hospital. The decision of shifting the sanctioned AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir shocked the people of Jammu province. And what shocked them all the more was the statement of a BJP leader that "no power can snatch AIIMS from Kashmir and it will not be established in Jammu". And on Sunday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda will come to J&K all the way from New Delhi to perpetrate another injustice on the people of Jammu province. His ministry has sanctioned three new medical colleges for the state. He will lay the foundation stone of three Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) one in Jammu region and two in Kashmir valley. One will be constructed at Rajouri in Jammu district, second in the Kashmir's Anantnag district and third in Baramulla district of Kashmir valley. The report that the foundation stone of the two AIIMS one at Awantipora in Pulwama district of Kashmir valley and another at Vijaypur in Samba district of Jammu region will also be laid within one month further suggests that the Modi Government is as anti-Jammu as the Kashmiri ruling elite and that the BJP is all out to appease the Kashmiri Muslims and stab the people of Jammu province from the back. Jammu province has no medical institute worth its name. The Jammu Medical College and Hospital is under-staffed and ill-equipped and there is tremendous pressure on the doctors, who do their best to provide medical facilities to the patients from all across the region. Similarly, the Super Specialty Hospital in Jammu is in shambles. It has building but no doctors and no equipment. Contrast to this, Kashmir has a number of well-equipped hospitals, including the Sher-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, which is at par with the AIIMS. In other words, Kashmir will soon have two AIIMS-like institutes, besides many well-equipped medical colleges. People of Jammu province do not cross the line when they bemoan their decision to vote for the BJP and say they are suffering for the folly they committed by voting for the party |
