'Kashmir not fiefdom of separatists, it belongs to all' | No one can stop KPs from returning | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 14: The land in Kashmir has once again become the bone of contention as separatists have taken their daggers out and are opposing the Government's plan to set up separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits. The so-called JKLF Chief Yasin Malik and Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday made their intentions clear by opposing the Government's plan to come up with separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Separatists have been opposing the return of Kashmiri Pandits from the day one. Someone needs to inform the separatists that Kashmiri Pandits who used to live in Srinagar city were compelled to sell their properties under duress and for peanuts. Even if they return they have no place to go. They would have to stay in the accommodation provided from the Government as they have no other choice." He said, "Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee from the Valley in 1990 due to intimidation, threats and selective killings. They left everything behind to save their lives. Entire community was displaced due to fear and threat by the extremists." A Kashmir watcher said, "These separatists are responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley and they should be booked for it." He said, "A few Kashmiri Pandits, who have returned to the Valley, had to pay triple the amount to buy the properties which they had sold under duress. All Kashmiri Pandits are not rich like a few people in the community who can buy the land and settle in the colonies which they like." The Kashmir based BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir while talking to Early Times said, "Kashmiri Pandits have equal rights like others. No one can stop Kashmiri Pandits from coming back to Kashmir. It's their right to choose where they want to live. People like Yasin Malik have no right to interfere as Kashmir is not their fiefdom. People of Kashmir have realized that they were hoodwinked by separatists on the name of Azadi." Jehangir said, "The PDP-BJP coalition Government is committed to resettle Kashmiri Pandits and no one can stop us from fulfilling our promise." A Kashmir based politician said, "Separatists should stop opposing the return of KPs to the Valley and allow them to return. If they stay in separate colonies there is no harm in it. We have to provide them security so that they feel secure and have no apprehensions in their mind. The separatists should beware of the fact that land in Kashmir is not their fiefdom and it belongs to Kashmiri Pandits also." |
