LVD supports demand of establishing Sainik Colony in valley | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, May 14: Amid ongoing political controversy on establishing Sainik Colony in Kashmir, the Lok Vikas Dal (LVD) an NGO supported the demand for the establishing of Sainik Colony at Srinagar for the welfare of the ex-servicemen of the State. In a meeting held here today, under the presidentship of Vikram Singh Slathia in which the speakers strongly supported the demand terming it as for the welfare of the ex-servicemen of the State. Slathia said that this demand of the ex-servicemen is coming up since 2012 and the establishment of resident colony exclusively for the defence and security personnel is genuine. He said that it is unfortunate that PDP and NC are playing politics over the issue. "It is intriguing that the power hungry BJP is now maintaining silence over the issue of creating colony, he regretted. He maintained the Government approved colony in the 74th Rajya Sainik Board Meeting held on March 2, 2012 under its president, Governor N N Vohra, which was attended by the then Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and the Army Commander, Northern Command besides concerned Ministers, Secretaries. He however criticized former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid for politicizing the issue. |
