SWD assures SVC to dispose of all pending complaints within 2 months | SWD asked to streamline selection process of anganwari workers, procurement of nutritional items | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 17: The social welfare department (SWD) today assured state vigilance commission (SVC) to dispose of all pending complaints pertaining to it within two months while claiming that out of 431, 207 complaints and one regular departmental action had so far been disposed of by it. SVC received the assurance in a meeting convened to review the progress of corruption related complaints received by different wings of the department from time to time, including those referred to it by the vigilance organisation. The meeting, chaired by chief vigilance commissioner Kuldeep Khoda, was, among others, attended by SWD special secretary Mir Tariq, SVC secretary Jatindar Singh, SWD deputy director, Kashmir, Tabasum Kamli, SWD under secretary, manager of SC/ST Development Corporation SVC was informed that the payments to beneficiaries of 10 districts, registered with SWD under various social security schemes, were being deposited directly into their accounts while this process for the remaining 12 districts would be Adhaar Card based and completed within next two months. It was also informed that pre and post-matric scholarships were being deposited directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary students and the websites of the social welfare and other subordinate departments were being updated regularly. Enjoining upon the officers to expedite action on the remaining complaints and inquires, SVC directed SWD to appoint inquiry officers as per requirement and ensure that pendency was cleared in a time bound manner. It asked the officers to nominate an official for reconciliation of complaints with VO to remove the discrepancies which had come to notice during discussion. On the complaints, SVC was receiving against the engagement of anganwari workers, it was suggested to explore the ways and means for streamlining their selection process so that selection was made without causing confusion regarding the eligibility of candidates. The SWD officers were informed that complaints regarding alleged illegal engagement of anganwari workers were being received in the absence of well defined jurisdiction of hamlets. The commission also observed that in certain cases, according to the complaints, dry ration was being issued in place of cooked meals. --(JNF) |
