JAMMU, May 17: Arrogance of a teacher coupled with his failure to prepare, get printed and issue the study material of MA political science on time to the students of fourth semester has landed the students of distance education in a thick soup left no time to go through study material whose examinations are set to start from June 2, 2016
The sources informed Early Times that political science course run in the Directorate of Distance Education was stopped on the directions of University Grants Commission from the session 2015-16 due to inefficiency of Dr. V. V. V. Nagendra Rao Coordinator M. A Political Science of DDE who could not prepare the study material of his subject of semester third and fourth on time which was desired by the UGC to be placed before them for evaluation, which is mandatory, enabling further extension of the course, further told, adding that the closure of political science course attracted flak from various quarters ridiculing the ineffectiveness of the concerned Coordinator with students left unattended in mid session of the course training their guns against the gross negligence of the teacher drawing hefty salary and contributing nothing in the larger interest of students. The sources further told that following uproar and resentment of students, the University Authority took a decision in favor of students to provide full support including study material and facility of personal contact programmes (PCPs) to these students on the analogy of other distance education students studying PG courses in different subjects in DDE, although they may appear as private candidates in the examination.
The aggrieved students of political science, while talking to Early Times correspondent, deplored the lacklustre approach of Coordinator political science of DDE who has once again evinced his carelessness and failure to arrange study material for fourth semester till date in consonance with the decision of University Authority putting the students in a precarious situation now running helter skelter in the university whose examinations shall commence after seventeen days w.e.f from June 2, 2016, further said, flaying the obstinacy of Coordinator to ignore the express decision of the University to provide study material of semester fourth without caring for the career of students for which the teachers like coordinator political science are appointed by the varsity for the guidance of students providing very less rather no academic support to students commensurate with the huge salary being drawn by him and other teachers of his ilk in the Directorate of distance education who have made the DDE and for that matter the university as imperishable fiefdom .
The sources watching the emerging developments in varsity said that despite suspension of PG political science course in DDE due to casual attitude of its Coordinator who is entirely responsible for bringing disgrace to the university at the cost of students' career, the incumbent Vice Chancellor turned a deaf ear to recklessness of the course coordinator, which, they say, was nothing short of a gross dereliction of official duty giving him a long rope to commit another act of gross negligence by not providing the study material to students of MA Political Science semester forth which abundantly speaks of overall academic scenario prevailing in the University, further said, adding that most of the teachers working in DDE have developed parasitic mentality and become liability in DDE with coordinator political science being king pin surpassing all others in adopting stubborn attitude of "who cares" on the strength direct blessings of Vice Chancellor who is habitual of granting clemency to such unwilling and erring workers who are responsible to further tarnish the sagging image of University and punishing those who work with dedication in the interest of university to be dig out shortly |
