Various political outfits, including National Conference and Lok Jan Shakti Party, held protests in Talab Tillo area amid anti-police and anti-mini bus operators. Pertinently, a 16-yr-old girl died and her brother seriously injured when their scooty they were riding on was hit by a mini bus in Talab Tillo area while they were returning to home from school on Monday. The protestors alleged that due to nexus between mini bus operators and traffic cops, there is no check on rising traffic menace on the city roads including rash driving. They further said that the mini bus operators alleged involved in mal practices like overcharging, use of music systems use to grease palms of traffic officials which is giving rise to menace of rash/negligent driving on roads. The protestors, however, wanted action against erring drivers and appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene in this matter and pass directions to the concerned to keep check on unholy nexus of traffic cops-mini bus operators so that innocent deaths can be prevented. |
