Students rue picnic charges | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 20: The Zoology Department of the university of Jammu has allegedly avoided the tendering procedure for catering and transportation facility on for a tour of the department to Mechlodganj on Monday. According to sources in the Jammu University, the department has not invited tender (which is mandatory) for providing catering and transport facility for picnic of students of the department However, sources also alleged that as per university norms the student must pay all the funds before admission but the department is again charging money from them. One of the students wishing anonymity stated that the department is charging Rs 500 from the students who were going to Passout, Rs 1000 from from Scholars and Rs 1100 from juniors but they have already paid the picnic charges at the time of admission. He further alleged that when departments take students for picnic they charged only Rs 700 from the students. There are total 60 students in Zoology department and around 30 to 40 scholars. Despite repeated attempts Head of the Department (HoD) Zoology Rupma Gandotra could not be contacted. |
