| Palma residents protest against PHE Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 20: People of Palma area of Rajouri district staged protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for non supply of drinking water to the area.
According to local reports large number of people from Palma area on Thursday evening came on roads and after raising barricades they blocked ever busy Rajouri Budhal road.
Raising slogans against PHE authorities, the angry protesters alleged that their carelessness has forced them to come on roads.
Local residents namely Mohd Ayoub, Raj Kumar and Bashir Ahmed said that PHE water supply in the area has been non functional since the last one month.
"Repeated requests seeking restoration of water supply have fallen to deaf ears till date, they alleged and now we are forced to take to roads. They alleged that due to stop of PHE supply people are facing a lot of hardships particularly in this scorching summer heat as women have to walk miles together to get a pail of water from natural resources in the area.
Meanwhile police team rushed to the spot and pacified the angry protesters by assuring that they will take up matter with the PHE authorities and seek supply to be restored soon. |
