SKUAST-J organizes zonal research and advisory committee meeting 5/25/2016 11:05:08 PM Early Times Report Jammu, May 25: Zonal Research and Extension Advisory Committee (ZREAC) Meeting for Kharif 2016 was held at She-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J). The Meeting was chaired by Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Jammu and was attended by officers of the University, Agriculture and Horticulture departments. Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Jammu impressed upon the university authorities and scientists that only final recommendations after on-farm testing and authentication should be passed on to the development departments for their dissemination to farming community. "ZREAC is not a forum to discuss research experiments and research results but to discuss final recommendations and get feedback from the development departments, otherwise it amounts to wastage of time and resources" said the vice-chancellor. Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Director Agriculture Jammu emphasized on putting impetus on testing and development of pulse varieties. He said that there should be short-term goals like testing of varieties developed outside the state for their suitability in our conditions and long-term goals of developing varieties suited for rain-fed areas in Jammu which are almost 75% of the total area.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
