Soz supports civil society for opposing Devnagri script | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 25: Former union minister and Senior Congress leader Prof. Saifuddin Soz has supported the civil society for opposing the Devnagri as an alternate Script for Kashmiri language. "The Kashmir Civil Society's stand in respect of Devnagri as an alternate Script for Kashmiri Language is absolutely right. The ruling class in Delhi is deliberately going wrong to administer the affairs in which it can't interfere. "Kashmiri Language is the main representative of Kashmir's culture. This step by the Ministry of Human Resources Development is yet another proof that the BJP govt. in Delhi wants to impair the provisions of Article - 370 of the constitution of India. "The Kashmiri language has one approved script and that is the Persian Script. This is also provided in the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir State. "The HRD Ministry should take series notice of the fact that the Jammu and Kashmir State has a separate Constitution also which safeguards many vital subjects connected with the culture, languages and matters related to education. "The people, who must have approached HRD Ministry to provide an alternate script in Devnagri, have misled it (HRD Ministry). "The HRD Ministry seems to be groping in the dark and, therefore, not taking notice of the fact that Kashmiri Language is included in the 8th - Schedule of the Constitution of India with an approved script. The HRD Ministry has also deliberately overlooked that fact that the J&K State's official language is Urdu."
