Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 25: After president signed the ordinance brought in by Union government keeping state boards out of NEET ambit, J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) shall hold a meeting about the issue on Wednesday at 4 in the evening. Students are in lurch after Supreme Court asked all states to follow and admit only those students in government and private medical colleges through NEET. However, many states raised its objections seeking continuation of their own set procedures.
J&K Government had also pleaded before Supreme Court that the state be kept out of NEET citing Article 370, 35-A and other issues.
But after Union government sought one year exemption from NEET for state boards and brought in an ordinance, the J&K BOPEE officials Tuesday said that it shall hold an in-house meeting where the issue will be discussed threadbare. "We are meeting at 4 PM," BOPEE Chairperson, G H Tantray told. Notably, the Common Entrance Test (CET) of J&K was held on 14 and 15 early this month but it was yet ambiguous whether J&K students had to appear for NEET or not. "BOPEE officials shall be discussing the ordinance," Tantray said, "it apparently seems that CET shall be held once again." The J&K students were in lurch and were not fully prepared to appear in CET on May 14 and 15.
