Jammu, May 29: Already facing array of allegations of highhandedness, nepotism and favoritism, the Presentation Convent SChool has again hit media headlines after a student of the school filed a case against the school authorities for chucking her out from the stream which she deserved, thus marring her career. The High Court, however, gave liberty to the aggrieved to file a case for claim for damages before the Consumer Forum at Jammu after her counsel apprised it that the aggrieved girl who gave examination as a private candidate had secured 85 % in the medical stream, stating that the claim of the appellant for admission to class 11 by her in the medical stream for the session 2014-15 had become infructuous by efflux of time. The High Court observed, 'nothing mentioned herein above shall prejudice the merits of the main case which shall be decided on its merits.' Meanwhile, guardian of the aggrieved girl namely Sudershan Mehta when contacted said that he is going to file case against school authorities for damages to the tune of Rs 20 lakhs. The aggrieved student namely Anandita Jandiyal Mehta had filed a case through her guardian Sudershan Mehta of Tange Wali Gali,Kachi Chawani, Jammu before the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir alleging there in that she was debarred to be admitted in medical stream by the Principal ,Presentation Convent Sr. Secondary School in class 11th for the session 2014-15 though she had obtained the better grade as compared to her other school inmates who were accommodated in the stream of their choice. They claimed, this was contrary to the practice followed in other schools like Army Public Schools and Kendriya Vidyalyas, who called for options form the students and parents giving a deadline for submitting their option with school, while the Presentation Convent SChool was running according to the whims and fancies of its administration, depriving opportunities to deserving students to pursue the streams they prefer and deserve. |
