Without getting Army clearance, Tosamaidan thrown open for tourists | | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 29: Without getting clearance from army the administration today threw open the Tosamaidan meadow in Central Kashmir's Budgam district for the tourists with chief minister Mehbooba Mufti being the chief guest on the occasion. Sources told Early Times that the chief minister reprimanded the officials for failing to get the clearance from the army till date. She also pointed out that if the clearance is pending how can be the meadow thrown open for tourists. "As soon as the chief minister arrived to attend the function, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad told her that the district administration is yet to get the permission from the army. The DC said that army is yet to give the green signal that there is no harm in visiting the Tosamaidan area," said sources. Sources said that Mehbooba took a strong note of the same and asked the officials why there has been a delay in getting the clearance from army. The officials failed to give a satisfactory reply and as such were reprimanded by the chief minister. "The officials were taken to task by the chief minister. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Fayaz Ahmad Lone told the chief minister that the Tosamaidan has been sanitized by the army. However, he too could not convince her why the clearance certificate had not been received from the army," said sources. |
