Handlers ask them to vitiate peace, foment trouble in Jammu region | Separatists, Kashmir civil society gets new assignment | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 29: Separatists and the so-called civil society members from Kashmir seem to have got the new assignment from their handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) i.e. polarize the environment in Jammu region. To start with the Hurriyat Conference (G) backed Jammu Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) wanted to hold a meeting at Rajouri to discuss the "future strategy" about how to preach "secessionism" and "separatism" in the region. For that purpose they had invited a few self styled civil society members from Kashmir to attend the meeting. Police sent the civil society members back from Peer-Ki Gali and foiled the attempt of the so called JKPM to hold any such meeting. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Separatists and the so-called civil society members want to create a wedge between Hindus and Muslims by preaching sedition and separatism. They want to pit the two communities against each other in the areas like Rajouri, Poonch and Kishtwar so that communal passions could be aroused and they accomplish the task assigned by their handlers sitting across the LoC." He said, "The so-called civil society members comprise of retired bureaucrats and a few people who draw huge salaries from the state ex-chequer. The chairperson of the civil society group, which was stopped from going to Rajouri is a lecturer at University of Kashmir." A Kashmir watcher said, "If so-called civil society members are so keen on carrying out ant-India campaign they should leave their jobs and stop taking pension and join the separatist camp formally. They want to have the cake and eat it too." He said, "The Government should take a strong note of people who despite enjoying all the privileges are preaching secessionism and sedition." Addressing a news conference in Srinagar the so-called civil society group claimed: "We apprehend that in near future people from Kashmir may be asked to get visa (permission) to visit any other district of their own territory," they said. "On 27th May, KCSDS members proceeded to pay obeisance at the revered shrine of Shahdra Sharief located in district Rajouri. For the next day we had planned interaction with prominent civil society members of district Rajouri and Poonch as part of our ongoing civil society interactions in various districts," they said. "But after travelling a distance of over 100 kms, up to Peer Ki Gali, the team was stopped by a heavy contingent of fully armed J&K Police which included male and female constables. An executive magistrate was also with them to order arrest in case of stiff resistance from us," they added. An observer said, "These so-called civil society group members have become a nuisance and they leave no stone unturned to add fuel to the fire. Jammu Muslims need to remain cautious about their nefarious designs and give them a befitting reply. Separatists and the so-called civil society members need to be told in clear term that their hegemony and dikats are not going to work in any part of the Jammu region." A police official said, "We have received inputs that separatists want to foment trouble in the areas of Jammu region and for that they are trying to rope in the parties like JKPM and others. We are maintaining a strict vigil and the people with separatist leanings have been warned to remain away from such elements." |
