Early Times Report Jammu, May 31: A former tehsildar, Jammu, a patwari and two others have been booked by crime branch (CB), Jammu, in a case of alleged land fraud. Ex-tehsildar, Jammu, Subash Singh Chib and then Nawabad patwari Janak Singh of Kalyanpura were alleged to have conspired with Baldev Raj, son of Ami Chand of Gole, Talab Tillo, and Sucha Singh, son of Swaran Singh of Bhawani Nagar, and fraudulently mutated two kanals of land of Lehna Singh and Teja Singh in their favour on the basis of a non-existent sale deed in sheer abuse of their official positions. The matter was forwarded to CB for probe by the sub-judge, special excise magistrate, Jammu, after Janak Singh, son of Raj Singh of Bhawani Nagar, had approached it with a complaint, stating therein that he was owner of one kanal of land under khasra No 164 min at Nawabad. He said he had purchased this land from Lehna Singh and appointed his brother Swaran Singh as caretaker. However, Sarwan, in connivance with his son Sucha Singh, later got his name recorded in khasra girdawari with the alleged connivance of Sat Paul, then tehsildar, Jammu, and Subash Sharma, then patwari, Jammu. The complainant alleged that Sarwan and Sucha had staked their claims on the land on the basis of two sale deeds, one of which was claimed to have been executed by Lehna Singh and the other by Lehna's brother Teja Singh in favour of Baldev Raj. Though both the sale deeds were said to have been registered before the court, when records were examined, no such sale deeds were found to have been executed or registered before any court. The accused had prepared fake and fabricated documents on the basis of which Sat Paul and Subash Sharma had recorded the entries and the mutations. Acting on the complaint, CB probed into the matter and then register a case against Baldev Raj, Sucha Singh, then Nawabad patwari Janak Singh (now retired) and then tehsildar Subash Singh Chib under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC read with section 5(2) of P C Act Svt 2006. |
