NGO adopts part to maintain the beauty while authorities fail | | | Ashwani Sharma Early times report Udhampur, May 31: An NGO, Lok Vikas Dal taking a unique step today adopted park in Udhampur to maintain it for the cause of people when the civic authorities have utterly failed to maintain the green cum recreational spaces within the town. As the city reels under prolonged power curtailment and the people look towards parks to spend some time to get some comfort in this scorching summer but the people of Udhampur are not lucky enough to get such spaces as civic agencies have utterly failed to maintain the parks. When these civic agencies failed to come upto expectations, a local NGO Lok Vikas Dal voluntarily came forward to maintain one of the local park situated at Slathia Chowk which attracts hundreds of people who come here from outskirts of town to get there work done in different offices. Here it needs to mention that most of the parks and gardens in the Udhampur are lying in neglected state as the agencies concerned have failed in maintaining these parks and recreational spaces across the town. Be it Shaeed Bhagat Singh Park, or Jakhnai park or any other all parks are crying for the attention but concerned authorities are least bothered. This was the time when NGO- Lok Vikas Dal president Vikram Singh Slathia took a unique initiative and adopted a park at Slathia Chowk for its due maintenance using NGO's resources including the funds fort beautifying the said park. Vikram Salathia said that there family has even donated land for this park years back and made park for locals but civic authority has failed to maintain it. Keeping in view that the park offers a space to many people who come to main city our NGO decided to maintain it at its own so that visitors may get relief in summers. |
