JKAACL presents Best Photography Awards

JAMMU, June 30: Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu inaugurated the 5th and 6th Photography Exhibition organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Kala Kendra, Jammu and also presented the Awards for 5th and 6th Photography for the years 2014 and 15.
Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present on the dice.
Anjali Sharma, while delivering her speech, congratulated the Award winners and appreciated the creative work done by the participants during these two years. She also extended her gratitude to the Academy for providing her a chance to be a part of this memorable occasion. She further exaggerated that such awards play an important role for the encouragement of the important creative activity like photography which with the presence of their wisdom they portray the social issues through such medium.
Addressing welcome address, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that the Award ceremonies, which ware abounded for the years together for one or the other reasons are being organized. The day before Yesterday, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presented Best Book Awards for 2013 at Tagore Hall, Srinagar followed by exhibition of rare Quranic Manuscripts. He said that Academy is trying its level best to deliver best and also sought co-operation of fraternities of Art, Culture and Languages.
Those who were given best Photography Award for the year 2013-14 were Anand Sharma (first), Adnan Ali Zahidani(2nd), Arshed Hussain (3rd) . The four consolation prizes were clinched by Syed Hamza, Choudhary Sunder, Surjeet Singh and Tumul Magotra. Similarly the first three top positions for the 6th Photography Exhibition 2014-15 went in favour of Satish Chalotra (first) Amrit Kaur (2nd) and M. Akram Khan (3rd) whereas the consolation prize were captured by Sh. O.P.Sharma, Pankaj Kumar and Parveen Kumar. The amount of the first, 2nd, 3rd prizes and consolation were Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, Rs.10, 000 and Rs. 1,000.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of the Academy presented vote of thanks and proceeding of the programme were conducted by Anil Tickoo, Asstt. Cultural Officer of the Academy.
