Work of GPC, Kathua in oblivion | Delay in release of Rs 5 cr to JKPCC | | G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, June 30 The coalition government has failed to release its share of more than Rs. 5 Crores to Jammu Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for constructing the Government Polytechnic College, Kathua (GPC). Reliable source in department said that in financial year 2011-12, the Technical Education Department (TED) had sanctioned construction work of worth Rs 14.49 Crores of GPC to the executive agency-JKPCC in which the department concerned clearly mentioned that funds to tune of Rs eight crores would be given by Central government and remaining would be given by the State government. "But unfortunately, the state government has failed so far to release the its share to JKPCC while the Union government had released the amount in stipulated time frame", source said. They further said that owing to not releasing of funds in time by State government the construction of the building is still in oblivion since last many years and the department concerned seems unbothered about it. Criticizing the department's indifferent attitude toward technical education, the source said that however, in the month of June, the TED had sent a communiqué to JKPCC and directs to JKPCC to hand over the building by 31 August, 2015 and pending the funds would be released soon but after lapse of one years, the department has still not released a single penny to JKPCC. "Resulting of which the construction of the college building is hanging in balance since last one year", they added. The callous approach of the department can be gauged from this fact that from last four academic sessions, every year more than eight lakhs rupees has been given to private school's owner in which the college is running since last four years and so far more than 30 Lakhs has been paid to the owner of Kartar Public School as a rent of the building. When contacted to Principal of GPC, Kathua, Arun Bargotra said that however he time and again apprised to higher-up to release rest of the amount to JKPCC but every time he received same answer as the finance department has still not release money for the college building. |
