| Alleging injustice locals, transporters protest against 'transport' authorities | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, June 30: People of different walks of life and transporters staged a demonstration against Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Poonch, alleging him for ignoring the common masses against government employees to whom the ARTO is allotting route permits.
Amid slogans against the concerned authority and his officials, the protestors demanded immediate transfer of the authority so as to end the era of injustice.
Speaking on the occasion, the Jagjeet Singh (Manager Bus Stand ) Poonch also alleged that the Transport department is using its authority and in the process as they have been threatened of blot of public image or financial causality.
Beside Jagjeet Sing Rajesh Kumar Assistant Manager, Ricky Tandon, Mohd Bashir, Hardeev Singh and many others on the occasion also alleged that the officer has not issued payment for nine months they demands for inquiry in this regard.
They also said that ARTO has issued permits to many government employees owing which poor masses are in loser's end. Protestors demanded for strong action against ARTO under law.
According to local reports Deputy Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Harun Malik and SHO Poonch Jatindar Raina on receiving information reached to the spot to pacify the protestors.
Meanwhile official sources said that the district administration telephonically has communicated the matter with Assistant Transport Commissioner Jammu.
They also added that DC has asked ARTO Poonch to refrain from such practice otherwise he will seize his powers. |
