AJKDCM resents over atrocities against Dalits | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch (AJKDCM) castigated union government over atrocities against Dalits in Gujarat. According press release, AJKDCM held protest regarding atrocities on scheduled castes throughout country especially in Gujrat State. "Four Dalit youths were stripped, tied and beaten up by cow protection group at Mota Samdhiyala village in Una Tehsil of Gir Somnath District of Gujrat", AJKDCM said. The Manch said that the height of brutality could be gauged from the fact that these four youths were tied with SUV Car and beated up severely and dragged for kilometers to police station. They were beaten up in broad daylight continuously for three hours. "No doubt Union Home Minster condemned this incidence and said "We must get a permanent solution to such incidents" The mindset has to change. Mere lip sympathy cannot serve the purpose. The desire is commendable but it is easier said than done. As per National crimes records Bureau, crimes against dalit are rising throughout country. 33655 cases were registered in 2012, 39408 in 2013 and 47064 cases in 2014. An international Dalit solidarity Network report has few explanations for the reasons behind such unending aggression. Last month a dalit youth killed him by consuming poison after allegedly being tortured in police custody in Gondal. A dalit girl was raped in Patan while another youth was murdered in Porbandar over a dispute. As per minority Commission Gujrat witnesses an average of 1000 cases of atrocities on dalits every year as per official records of Minority Commission. The same record suggests that 50 dalits women are raped and 20 dalits are murdered every year. 116 Dalits villages are currently under police protection in Gujrat. They strongly condemned the derogatory statement of Daya Shanker BJP Vice President of U.P State against BSP Suprmo Behan Mayawati. We appeal to Govt. of India that he should be arrested immediately as only apology will not do. We appeal to Centre and State Govt. to extend SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act in J&K State. |
