Bhalla castigates BJP-PDP for neglect, misgovernance, failure | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: Wrong policies being pursued by the insensitive government have caused enormous sufferings to the people especially in remote, hilly and border areas of the State", former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said while addressing a deputation of shopkeepers from bus stand who are facing livelihood crisis after the Govt's decision to shift bus stand from Jammu. Speaking on the occasion he said that instead of concentrating on governance and development, the coalition government seems having other priorities. Bhalla castigated PDP-BJP coalition for failing miserably, during the past one year of its nightmarish misgovernance, in carrying forward the developmental tempo started and sustained by the Congress Government and said the problems of people have accumulated manifold due to abject neglect. We will thwart all these machinations, as Congress believes in the single entity of Jammu and Kashmir in which all segments of society irrespective of caste, creed or colour enjoy equal opportunities of progress and development", Bhalla said and hoped that the people will maintain the bonds of amity and unity which has been hallmark of the state. Describing PDP-BJP government as a non-starter, he said that except for vigorously pursuing anti-youth, anti people and anti-employee policies, the governance has been a distant dream during the past one year. The government is claiming that it is moving in every sector but reality is different, he added. Central government has miserably failed to restore peace in the valley. Disappointed over statements of members of Parliament (MPs) and other politicians on the Kashmir situation, Bhalla remind the political class that J&K comprises three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh - and any "deliberate attempt" to neglect Jammu would make situation more complex in the state. He argued that any instability in Kashmir has direct impact on tourists and pilgrims' footfall and economy of Jammu because an impression goes outside that unrest in the Kashmir valley means trouble in the entire J&K state. He said both BJP and PDP leaders should have stayed in the Valley and monitored the situation, but instead they were camping in Jammu and despite that are unable to handle Amarnath Yatra properly. He said the state government has failed on administrative, political and social fronts. Appealing to protesters, especially the youth, to maintain calm, Bhalla said peace must be maintained at all cost and the Yatra should not be halted unnecessarily. |
