Jammu, July 23: Eve teasing is a becoming a menace for girls and women in Jagti Colony tenants as a large number of youth especially non locals were seen roaming aimlessly in main lanes and by-lanes of Jagti colony. According to local tenants of colony, many women and girls refrain from moving out during evening and afternoon hours as this was the time when the rowdy eve teasers were seen zooming around in search of their prey. 'The eve teasers who are often noticed as 'non locals' are seen roaming on bikes and passing lewd remarks to girl or woman, a local on anonymity said.
Complaining the menace the inmates of Lane No- 18 told Early Times that during evening hours many youth in groups are seen wandering everywhere in colony with no purpose but to tease girls/females of the colony who are out to purchase some day to day consumable items. "The eve teasers presence in the colony is creating inconvenience to the women folk of colony, they alleged, adding, "girls/women refrain from reporting the matter with their family members unless eve teasing goes beyond a tolerable level."
Tenants in a fervent appeal to police urged to tighten noose against eve teasers by maintaining patrol in the camp so as to discourage the menace of eve teasing. |
