Govt claims of streamlining Education Department deflated | Key posts in CEO’s office Samba lying vacant since long | | Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 21: Education Minister Nayeem Akther's tall claims that his government's first priority was to streamline the derailed education system of Jammu and Kashmir have fallen flat as working in the office of Chief Education Officer (CEO) Samba has been seriously affected as key posts have been vacant ever since the establishment of the office. Sources in education department informed Early Times that the post of Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Section Officer, Statistical Assistant, Junior Stenographer and legal in-charge post of legal cell, besides five posts of Junior Assistant of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyanin (SSA) wing were lying vacant. "Without knowing ground realities the state government had issued orders for detachment of employees in all government offices but the acute dearth of staff in said offices was hindering the implementation of such order", sources said, added that district Samba is not an isolated case in Jammu division as several other offices were facing similar situation. The Ministers had issued orders to all Chief Education Officers to detach the officials attached in their offices and send them to their actual places posting but vacancies were not filled with permanent staff, affecting the working seriously. Chief Education Officer, Samba, Om Parkash Bhagat said, "it's not in my hand to fill the posts, but I have taken up the matter with higher authority". "It was difficult to handle all works of the office due to shortages of staff. As per direction of Director School Education, Jammu I had attached few clerical staff from schools to run the office smoothly", CEO added. |
