Students hold 'Anti Tobacco Rally' | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 21: Students of a Government School located carried out an Anti Tobacco Rally in the village and forced their parents as well as other villagers to leave the habit of smoking. According to press release, the rally was held by the students of Government High School Panjgrain located near LoC in Tarkundi sector and was led by School Headmaster Mohd Iqbal Mughal and Second Headmaster Subash Chander Sharma. Hundreds of school students from all the classes and holding placards of slogans against Tobacco Use and photographs showing skin cancer illness caused by smoking and started this rally from school premises which after passing through the village culminated back in the school. During this rally students interacted with more than seventy villagers and made them aware about the ill effects of smoking and problems like cancer caused by it. They also warned them to quit the habit of tobacco consumption, especially smoking, or to get ready to land in hospital. On the pressure of students, several villagers also promised to quit the habit of tobacco consumption. Addressing the rally School Headmaster Mohd Iqbal Mughal said that many students were forcing him to spread the message of Anti Tobacco and on the request of students this rally was organised. "Many villagers have pledged to leave smoking and tobacco consumption and we are hopeful that they will keep their promise while adding that more efforts will be made to aware left out illiterate people of the area " Headmaster added. Our aim is to minimise or to completely end the problem of tobacco consumption from their village. "School is located close to LoC but still our students take part in such programme and are playing a vital role in spreading awareness among people " Second Headmaster of School Subash Chander Sharma said. |
