NPSU demands appointment SIC, CIC | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 29: NPSU today demanded to fill vacant posts of State Information commissioner (SIC) and Chief Information Commissioner (CIC). According to press release, NPSU held a strong protest demonstration in front of GGM Science College Jammu under the banner of NPSU. A protest was led by Chetan Sharma activist of NPSU. While addressing the media person, the Chetan lambasted the state government for ignorance of state government on appointee SIC and CIC. Chetan said NPSU have launched campaigning for the strengthening of RTI Act in J&K and NPSU is going to fight tooth and nail for the issue. Sharma said that this is really matter of concern that the parties which are sharing power in government before election use to pronounce loud slogans of transparency and promised a lot to the people of J&K but astonishingly after getting power their attitude is changed and due to their criminal silence RTI Act is on death bed. Chetan lambasting the apathy shown by the bureaucrats and other government functionaries towards the RTI Act in the absence of stern punitive measures, Singh said that there were ample examples to show the contemptuous disregard of the RTI applications of information seekers by the said officers. He said that there were several instances where the higher authorities and administrative Department had been forwarding the RTI applications to hundreds of their subordinates merely to create confusion despite the onus lying upon the administrative departments and these top bureaucrats to provide the information. He said that vague replies were being given in several others cases only to evade, avoid and conceal the information. He said that a defunct SIC further added to the confusion as a single information commissioner, for the entire state only amounted to a cruel joke with the SIC. |
