Militants attack army convoy at Langate | 2 soldiers wounded, one critical | | S Tahir-ul Haq

Kupwara, Sept 7: Three Jawans were injured in a militant attack on an army convoy today in Ganapora village of Langate of Kupwara district in north Kashmir. According to reports, the army convoy was coming from Kupwara to Srinagar and on its way they were attacked by militants at around 8'o clock in the morning in Ganpora village of Langate area. " The militants opened indiscriminate fire on the convoy. However a senior police official said that, today morning army convoy was attacked by militants in Langate area in which three jawans received injuries among which one is said to be critical. " Heavy contingent of army and SOG cordoned off the area and carried search operations to nab the militants from the adjoining villages of Ganpora in Langate area, the official said. However Srinagar based defence spokesperson N N Joshi told early times that, two army jawans were injured in a militant attack in Langate area, adding that both are stable. Meanwhile it is learnt that, Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) claimed responsibility for the attack on the Army convoy in north Kashmir in which three soldiers were injured today. A spokesman for the HM told local media that militants of the outfit carried out attack on the Army convoy. He claimed that two Army personnel were killed and several others injured in the attack by special squad of the outfit. The outfit had claimed responsibility for earlier attack on the convoy at Baramulla in which two soldiers and a police personnel were killed on August 17. |
