| Supplementary exams approaching, rechecking result yet to be declared | | | Akshay Azad

Jammu, Sept 7: The University of Jammu has reportedly failed to start the process of rechecking the answer scripts of 1st semester of Engineering students, after lapse of nearly one and half months.
Thee unsatisfied students, are in a dilemma as supplementary exams are approaching but there is no word from administration over the result.
Parents of some students, who were declared as reappear in one or two subjects of 1st semester course, by University of Jammu informed Early Times that a large number of students were declared as re-appear in one or two subjects. "The margin of re-appear is very less, which varies from one to five marks.
Many students are declared reappear and they require only one mark to qualify the exams", they said.
They further said that the process to get the answer scripts rechecked was very much frustrating. "Firstly, with the help of RTI application, a student get his/her answer script's copy and they apply for re-checking as there is no provision of reevaluation of answer scripts in Engineering course", they said.
A student said that hundreds of students of 1st semester students from various Engineering colleges had applied for rechecking of their answer scripts but there was forward movement on the file of re-checking. "Whenever we visit the Controller Examination office in Jammu University, the officials present there persuade us to prepare for exams rather than waiting for rechecking result as these officials assured that there are remote possibilities of any change in result status", the student alleged.
He further said that University officials have been trying their best to make an impression among students that re-checking was an irrelevant exercise and students should not apply for same.
They have also been pursuing the students not to apply as across county there was no provision of rechecking and University administration was yet to take decision over rechecking or not.
"Last year the varsity administration had rechecked the answer scripts and how the same provision got deleted this year. If there was no provision then why the answer scripts were accepted for rechecking. If the provision was changed then where is the official order", a student said.
"The answer scripts are gathering dust in Controller Examination section and there are reports that University administration has yet to take decision over rechecking of answer scripts", alleged Rajesh Singh, who has been pursuing the case of his ward, for the last many days in Jammu University.
He further said that the supplementary exams were approaching. "The students are being forced to take the supplementary exams and not wait for rechecking results, evoking anger among these students. The University is of the habit of declaring reevaluation results after the supplementary exams and probably, the rechecking result will also be declared after supplementary exams", Singh alleged. Controller of Examination Sanjeev Mahajan said that there could be some particular case, rechecking of which was not declared. When asked about the Engineering Semester-I exams, he said that onlyon Thursday he could say something after enquiring it from the staff. |
