Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 7 : In the PIL highlighting the alleged hushing up of Chatta-Sunjwan land scam, crime branch (CB) of police today filed a fresh status report in the high court, alleging the indifferent and non-cooperative attitude of revenue officers in not providing it the relevant record. CB alleged that despite repeated requests, revenue officers did not provide it the record to finalise the inquiry into the alleged Chatha-Sunjwan land scam. The probe was entrusted to CB by GAD on the basis of findings of then divisional commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu who had established tempering of revenue records with regard to 20 kanals of state land falling in khasra No 1442 situated at Sunjwan. When the PIL came up for hearing before the division bench of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice B S Walia, the petitioner's counsel drew the court attention towards the CB report, expressing inability to complete the probe in view of the revenue department's alleged non-cooperative approach. Another counsel drew the court attention to the July 29, 2016 order whereby the senior AAG was directed to file status report with regard to the outcome of departmental enquiry initiated against Mohammad Iqbal Zargar, then patwari halqa Sunjwan (presently naib-tehsildar, Thathri) and then Sunjwan patwari Mohan Singh. Despite the court directions, the senior AAG had not filed the status report, he submitted and alleged that revenue department was taking the court directions casually. On the senior AAG's request, the bench granted him two weeks time to to file the status report in terms of the July 29, 2016 court order. The counsel requested the bench to pass appropriate directions to the deputy commissioner, Jammu, and tehsildar, Bahu, to forthwith furnish the requisite revenue record to CB.
