Does Taploo belonged to BJP, RSS? | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 16: A KP organisation, which has done a lot of work for the community after the mass exodus of Pandits from the valley in 1989-90 and launched a relentless struggle for their rehabilitation in Kashmir, has now created a controversy over the Balidan Divas being observed in memory of K P leader and former state BJP vice-president Tika Lal Taploo. According to sources, Tika Lal Taploo who fell to the bullets of terrorists at Jabbakadal in Capital City of Srinagar on September 14 in 1989 for daring militants that India can't be cowed by the sparrow guns (Chidiyon Key Bandook Se Koi Bharat ko dara nahi Sakta hai). Taploo had made these remarks after the killing of NC block president Yousf Halwai by militants. It was Taploo's dedication to nation and nationalist forces that without considering the gravity of situation and his personnel life, he roared like a lion. Taploo a ardent swayam Sevak was in real sense a true patriot and a secular person for whom every nationalist Muslim was so dear as a nationalist Hindu. Since the mass exodus of KPs, April 14 is observed as Balidan Diwas in memory of sacrifices made by the community. The initiative was taken by former president of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Amarnath Vaishnavi and his general secretary Hira Lal Chatta who had later succeeded Vaishnavi as ASKPC president. But sentiments of KPs were hurt all over globe when some agents of political parties who were responsible for present plight of Pandits and their exile took the mike during Balidan Diwas observance here and termed Taploo as a leader of RSS and BJP, saying Balidan Divas be observed in memory of other KP Martyrs too, forgetting the supreme sacrifice of this leader who had taken a lead in challenging the disruptive forces in the valley right from his childhood and thereby became an inspiration to millions of nationalists in the country . |
