Karra resigns to help farooq Abdullah | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 16: Former PDP MP Tariq Hamid Karra has helped the National Conference by resigning as a MP from the Srinagar. He has also in a tacit way helped the separatists also , as they tend to have stronghold in this parliamentary consi-tutency. Karra has done unimaginable favour to the party National Conference, which he opposed tooth and nail, by resigning as the MP. The NC didn't have single member either in the lok sabha or the Rajya Sabha. It was for the first time that the party didn't have representation in both the houses of the parliament. It was desperately missing it and was also in the mode of frustration as all the discourse in the parliament about Kashmir was being held without any NC members making any point. "The elections for the constituency will be held for sure shortly. The PDP will find it tough and the NC will have a sure sign of regaining the seat. It was something which was not even in the dreams of the NC and there is every possibility that the party will whip up more communal propaganda which will further strengthened the separatists agenda in this most important constituency of the valley m" said a senior PDP leader. The resignation of the Karra has not gone done well not only in his constituency but also in the top circles of the N Delhi. "Even if the Karra wanted to resign he shouldn't have choosen this time, His timing was wrong especially when the there is strong mood against mainstream parties in the valley. He had played his card, at the behest of some forces. But, he too has many interests apart from the politics and he must then be prepared for the quid-pro-quo," said a senior home ministry official |
