University's villains become VC's darlings | Peculiar ways of JU administration! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 16: Attribute it to the weird ways of the Jammu University administration and its Vice Chancellor in particular, the villains of the University, who have started litigations against the University statutory body, have become VC's preferred ones and they are now calling shots in the university. One of these three stooges of the JU VC is his special secretary Neeraj Sharma, who was extended undue favours by an erstwhile vice chancellor of the University and made special secretary in the pay and grade of the Registrar despite the fact that he had completed just 3 to 4 years of service and was merely an Assistant Registrar. "After the superannuation of then Special secretary, Chaman Lal Sharma, Neeraj Sharma was elevated to this post in brazen violation of norms. Later, when an enquiry committee of the government pointed out the irregularity in his elevation and brought the matter to the notice of the Chancellor, the JU Council advised then VC MPS Ishar to undo the wrong. Rather than respecting the writ of the JU Council, Neeraj Sharma went to the court and secured a stay on the recommendations of the committee" informed a source. "Till today, JU has not made any effort to get that stay vacated and Neeraj is the special secretary again, which indicates at the deep rooted nexus within the University administration" he added. Neeraj Sharma, known for his sycophancy besides his illegitimate elevation also got his wife appointed in the university through the back door- courtesy the erstwhile Vice chancellor, who also extended similar undue favours to many others in the university. Interestingly, Neeraj Sharma replaced Jai Kumar Sharma as the special secretary to VC who also has a similar litigation against the University. He is presently the Director Colleges Development Council and also head of the JU legal cell. In contravention of norms, he has been awarded with a statutory position which should be assigned to a professor. Sources in the JU divulge that JK Sharma has taken on to himself the responsibility of misguiding and misinforming the VC on various administrative issues, which have eventually projected the University in poor light in public eye of late. "Facing serious allegations himself, he is misusing his position as head of the JU legal cell to start unfounded litigations and safe guarding his own interests and those of his coterie" informed a source. Third in the list of VC's stooges is Sanjeev Mahajan, an officer of the rank of joint registrar, who has been made controller of examination, also a statutory position in the university that needs to be headed by a senior professor. "He calls and chairs meetings of the senior professors as the controller, which is an administrative anomaly in itself, but the VC is brazenly promoting his ineligible blue eyed at the cost of deserving" said a professor of the university, pleading anonymity. |
