Program on IUFA organised | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 16: As part of the launch of India Unites For Animals (IUFA), an impromptu pre event outreach program was organized . As per press release, India Unites For Animals is a group of animal lovers across India and is now being formally registered. Since its inception three months ago, IUFA has attracted animal lovers across seventy cities in India and other countries already. While IUFA is planned as an ongoing movement, its main focus to start with is to push the Government to table and pass the Animal Welfare Bill which had been submitted to the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change in 2014. The purpose of the Bill is to cover the shortcomings of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and make penalties heavier and punishment harsher for animal abusers. Students showed keen interest in the topic and many have opted to volunteer with IUFA in its future activities. The Jammu Chapter of IUFA is headed by Devinder Kaur Madaan and Malvika Kalra. |
